Adventures in Pawley's Island South Carolina

This evening, I'm creating a fun, light, informative post about our trip to Pawley's Island South Carolina to visit the one...the only...Aaaauuunt Ashley!! Here's Clara enthusiastically embarking on her 1st flying experience, during which she ate and slept...the whole time, and due to my severe anxiety about her potentially having...well...severe anxiety, I was exceedingly relieved when she conked out during both flights even if she was unable to benefit from admiring the beautiful scenery outside our window. Isn't that every child's dream? To have a window seat on the plane??
Not very often do you see a car seat on the beach, but we like to be more than prepared, speaking of which, the car seat definitely came in handy, no doubt, when our warm beautiful beachy weather suddenly transformed into a vicious downpour, leaving us high and dry soaked. However, even a little...or a lot..in this case...rain won't wipe that hilarious smirk of Clara's little face!!
Charleston is a great city - so full of history, ambiance, and charm. We...actually...Jon had itinerized (that's what it's called when your husband sets up the itinerary for the whole week...he itinerizes...) for us to take a tour of the city by way of water, which was an awesome idea, although it ended in a little catfish nap.
I love all the incredibly fantastic scenery and charm, and it's awesome to see horses and carriages traveling down every couple of streets. The architectural detail and beauty is astonishing!!

This was a superb restaurant by the way, as are all the restaurants in and outside of Pawley's!!
I didn't realize this beforehand, but the Broadway at the Beach Aquarium is an amazing place to plan a day trip with an infant because of all the beautiful colors, shapes, movement, constant stimulation, other children etc. She just loved everything she experienced that day, soaking in everything like a little sponge...bob.
umm...yeah - Not quite sure what to think about this shady character!!
Myrtle beach has a wonderful winding boardwalk, perfect for the easily "bored" baby who just neeeeeds to literally be carried the entire day!! We also enjoyed a great lunch while we were there!!

Atalaya Castle in Huntington Beach was incredible!
Island Fest, which quickly became sleepland fest (for Clara), was amazing, except for the part where Jon almost got thrown off a golf cart with the baby because a reckless 15 year old was perched in front of the driver, who wasn't paying attention to the fact that a man with a 5 month old child may take a few extra seconds to sit down and get settled before take-off? We were hitching a ride in a golf cart to the fest btw...We don't just randomly drive golf carts around town...or anything??
Unfortunately, our plane ride home was delayed a couple hours, but in that time...Clara curiously observed hungry mommy and daddy slurp down a couple of milkshakes, had a few snacks herself...and learned to walk as you can see...well not quite. We had a tremendously amazing vacation and we definitely enjoyed visiting Ashley and miss her soooo much!! We love you Aunt Ash!!!! We are dedicating this post to you!! (Side note to Ashley: Don't worry, I certainly didn't underestimate the value and significance of "the comma". It just might save my life one day...)
