Whimsical Vintage Shabby Chic Guest Room & Guest Bath

If you have a spare room that you're not sure what to do with, and the endless style and color possibilities baffle and overwhelm you, here's an idea; Why not bring out your inner girly-ness and add a little whimsy and playfulness to a (normally) unoccupied room where guests (when they come over)can feel welcome, comfy, and nostalgic!! Here is our "Whimsical Vintage Shabby Chic" guest room and guest bath in progress...(I'm planning to add more shabby chic elements to both rooms soon.)Tweaking these two rooms is definitely on my summer to-do list, but here's where they stand so far!!

Guest Bedroom

Guest Bathroom
(which I'm in the process of glamorizing - it's very plain & simple at this point)

Organization Infatuation!!

Good Evening!!!!
I'm extremely excited to admit that I'm literally infatuation with clever organization and creative storage ideas, and am always enthusiastic and willing to learn about and try new storage options. Lately, I've been closely following two awesome organization blogs, as well as a couple of amazing "vlogs" which are basically video-blogs on youtube, by which I'm astoundingly inspired and completely love!!
Most of our house is organized considerably well now that we're nearing the one year anniversary of moving into our new (not new...but new to us) home. Here are a couple well organized spaces/areas in our house :
Our Guest Room Closet:
Our Guest Room Corner: All those decorative boxes as well as the drawer work as hidden storage!!
Cece's Toys and Supplies in our Laundry Room Cabinet
Photo Albums, which is a great place to store and display cards, birth/wedding announcements, you name it, as well as photos, of course!!
Office Cubbies, which I recently updated by labeling the front of each box!!
Small tins/containers for Writing Utensils, Crayons, Markers, Sticky notes etc.
Wide boxes for Scrapbook paper storage
Binders for Teaching Info, College Stuff, Basically anything can be filed in a nice an organized binder
Filing Cabinets, where technically any records, paperwork, etc can easily be stored and organized
Filing Containers or Boxes with an easily removable or liftable lid. This particular box is in my classroom, and is where I store all my choir information, lists, syllabus, music ideas etc.
My major organization goals for this summer include organizing our basement, which we hope to finish in the near future, organizing our garage, and generally organizing our house better, although we're pretty organized to begin with, and cleverly tweaking my general music and choir curriculum, which is always a bear!! I'm planning to utilize my time extremely wisely and effectively, and I literally can't wait to dive head first into these exciting organizing project challenges!!
A couple of weeks ago, my wonderful non-complaining husband Jon (who I love very much) took me to the container store, which (if you've ever been to the container store...you know what I'm talking about) is so awesome and inspiring that I could barely catch my breath as I exited the car, my adrenalin pumping and my mind racing with limitless possibilities and never-before-used color schemes!! We spotted multitudes of amazingly unique clever doodads, storage options, and organizing strategies that we had never thought of before!! Although Jon won't admit it, I know he was pretty inspired himself as he strolled through each neatly organized aisle in this brisk and...I'm-just-browsing-whoops-just-lost-my-wife-back-in-aisle-5-and-managed-to-pick-up-a-retro-sugar-canister-since-ours-doesn't-work-right...sorta way. I'm totally ready for another trip!! (um, maybe this weekend?? It would be an awesome way to literally hit the ground running this summer??)
Among our tremendously thrilling and exceedingly useful finds, were these :
It goes without saying that Cece feels the need to closely inspect and approve everything that comes through our front door...
Basically, they are a pack of four gorgeous wall hangings that cost $9.99 ($6.99 for the white ones, which I'm hoping to go back and snatch in a couple of weeks now that I know for a fact how awesome they are!!) Here's what we did with them, and I'm absolutely in LOVE with them, and with this idea that I suddenly came up with when I spotted them...TADA!!!!
Another project I've been working on while simultaneously preparing my classroom for next year is classroom organization. I just bought these awesome cubby cubes at target have begun reorganizing my materials so that they are much more user friendly and easier to find and access, but less difficult for the students to destroy play with.
Here's a quick photo of my fabulous "Sub Tub", which has definitely come in handy when I have an emergency or need coverage for a choir assembly or what have you...
I've also made it a point to tweak and improve the look of my bulletin boards before I cover them for the summer. Here are a couple of pictures of what they presently look like, just about ready to be covered with large yellow craft paper as well as a couple photos of my classroom in general.
As you can see, I'm exceedingly thrilled to be embarking on this wonderful journey of summer, and I have so many plans that will hopefully help simplify and improve lifestyle and functionality. I will make sure to share any great organizing/storage ideas I come across over the next couple of months!!

Have an amazing weekend!!!! Love ya!!!!
